It’s Official we are in a FROZEN holiday. It is outstanding just how much Frozen merchandise is available and it’s not just Halloween. There are outfits, toys, pajamas, socks everything Frozen. Frozen can actually drive traffic and we think KSS has the best set.
Kohl’s: Without a doubt their junior’s area looks better. We just aren’t sure it makes a big difference as inventory is heavy. Dresses, skirts, sweaters and some prints look good. Both Candies and Princess have cute items. There are good sweaters and cardigans around the floor. We like some pops of neon in sweaters and lots of cropped sweaters. Active is very good. We love the Frozen set of leggings and tops. While this might seem like a young brand Frozen is hot through the teens. Leggings and sweats look good. In the years we have been walking KSS this is one the strongest teen sets. Pricing is fair, but about the same as many junior retailers in the mall. In young men’s thermals, plaids and tees look good led by brands.
In men’s fleece pajama bottoms, hats and the like have arrived. As have holiday shirt and tie packs and belts. Kids is set for holiday. In boys Chaps sweaters, pajamas and Nike lead. In girls the only story that matters is Frozen. There are six full racks of Frozen apparel with three face-outs on each side as well as a pajama set, socks, underwear and in the aisle three huge displays of stuff. We have never seen a push like this. This is going to drive sales. Holiday dresses are almost a side note. That said IZ looks excellent as does Mudd and Juicy. Even Nike looks cute.
Older boy’s coats are in as is more Nike and Adidas apparel. In baby we are impressed with Carter’s they have really had a nice round of fashion lately, several deliveries. In men’s pants feel well managed. Men’s fleece and sweaters are in and it feels like the holidays. We have to give credit the merchandise looks better but we worry about the inventory. This is very early and merchandise is just being set; however, except for Frozen merchandise we can’t think of why she is running here to buy. Once in the store there is plenty to get her attention and at 40% off or more she should buy.
